Students sold traditional craft for K50,000 to the National Parliament

A GROUP of students from Milne Bay visited Parliament for the first time on the 11th August 2016 – and returned home K50,000 richer.

 Speaker Theo Zurenuoc gave the money to the students from Lauwela Primary School on Goodenough Island in Milne Bay Province.

 They presented traditional gifts to thank the Speaker for allowing them to visit the country’s highest institution.
Zurenuoc thanked Kiriwina-Goodenough MP Douglas Tomuriesa for providing the opportunity to students from a remote place to witness a Parliament sitting.

 It was also the first time for the students to visit their provincial town Alotau.
Zurenuoc said it was great to bring students to Parliament and witness the sittings. He said it was also an opportune time to educate the students. He urged MPs to bring school children in their provinces to visit Parliament.
